I was at a knife show last saturday and there was a guy who had some very well made Russian knives with stacked leather handles (I wish I could remember the name.) These were factory knives not customs. The knives were very light because the guards and pommels were made of micarta instead of brass or steel. The contrast of the two materials was very nice also.

I will look around and see if I can get a company name.
