Stacked leather handles?

Could anyone give me a little step by step tutorial on how to make stacked leather handles. (or direct me to an online tutorial) I really want to know how to makes these.

I read in an old knife book by Sid Latham that there was a special leather treatment Morseth devised to keep his leather handles from rotting- but the book did not elaborate on the method. Any ideas?
