I have never used leather washers and am new to knife making. I Know how to get them on but am a little confused on how to finish get the finished look. Is ther some kind of oil? Any advise on how best to use leather washers would be much appriciated.

i have read of many different ways but i put contact cement on each piece and stick half of the washers together and clamp them tight then do the same with the remaining half before joining them all together. i use duro safe contact cement which is water based. i have heard of guys soaking the leather in water and clamping them all together but this method worked well for me. superglue works well for the finish coat. here is a link to my leather washer handle knife i made. http://mysite.verizon.net/ress6fq6/id31.html

I agree with Richard, contact cement!!!
I always made my own leather discs and punched a hole in them and put em on a piece of all thread with nuts and fender washers to clamp them together good for a couple days till I was ready to assemble the knife. This also allows you a handle so you can preshape the leather before putting the knife together. Once I got the handle shaped the way I wanted it, I sanded it down to 320 grit and them buffed it with white rouge on a loose sewn muslin wheel. This will not only make it shine a little, it will slightly burn the leather, leaving it a nice brown color. Hope this helps some!!!
