im thinking about rehandling a stick tang knife in wood blocks but iwant to put some spacers in between the wood . Whats the best/ strongest way to cut the wood for the handle end grain parallel to the tang or across??
I'm not sure it would make a whole lot of difference since they'll be epoxied together and supported by the tang. Rayban's example looks pretty cool.
If you use metal spacers, be careful shaping the handle. Don't let the metal get hot enough to scorch the wood or soften the epoxy. Use a firm sanding block to prevent "dishing out" the softer wood between the spacers.
thanks guys!! thats exactly what i wanted to know. Rayban that knife is kinda how i wanted it to look . I can punch sheet metal out at work with different holes or slots in it ,thats why i thought i could use it
