Stag 110...

Great catch, ITE! The only problem that I have with Stag is that I love using it and love to see it new. I guess that it is time to double down. :D

I havn't used one yet... I don't think I could... But if I ever get one that's been used I will try it for sure...

Very, very nice piece. Great color in the stag!!

Thanks.... it is sweet... Dark stag... But that lite stag is sweet too.... ..

I think stag 110s may be my favorite knives. That one sure is a beauty.

Thanks, 110s and 112s... I just need to get some more of them...

Thanks again everyone.... ITE ...

I think most of us love STAG 110s and 112s and so on... I like any Buck knife with stag handles.... ... ITE

I noticed a few on e-bay now, 110s. 112s and a 192. I'm not bidding because I have other commitments, but I wonder why so many are showing up recently. I think all these have 420HC blades, but they are still nice examples, especially one of them.

And oh, I have a couple that are users. Sambar stag gained its reputation from hard use. It's a good solid material, hard with no pith. It's good to choose one for use to really appreciate it. I have one that gets EDC rotation ( a CKS), and a backup (an Alaskan Guide). 110s with S30V blades.

I would love to have a AGS, but I couldn't use it... only if it was used already... ...

Yep, to each his/her own. I started with ones that weren't used so whatever use they get comes from me and I know the whole history. I admit that the ones I collect now are not for use, at least not for now. When you have had a lot of experiences and adventures with a specific knife that you had from new it brings back memories of good times. That's the joy of having a fine knife as a user. :)

I hear you... Someday, but for now my 422 is just right for me and my good old 110... I'm sure I will find a stag to use soon..... I've been thinking about it.... ...

I think they're showing up because the prices are good. There's a shortage of Sambar, or at the very least a massive perception that there's a shortage of Sambar, so a lot of people want to buy.

The smart people are right there to fill that need at the right price.

Oh, there's a shortage of Sambar alright, but only by comparison with past years. It's still coming into the country by the truckload.

Whenever you get a situation like the current one, shortages and rumors of shortages.....some people will want to buy in anticipation that prices will go up or that Sambar will become impossible to find.

Thus the buying and joyous selling at higher prices.

Remember the great ammo shortage? The rumors that Obama would somehow ban ammo? Such a panic. Such frantic hoarding...... and prices went sky-high.

That's the nature of the human creature.

:D

Now, what is getting really hard to find is crown Sambar. But that won't affect anyone wanting stag scales.

The reason for the ban on exporting Sambar stag in India was the rampant poaching of the animal that was taking place. (A Third-world country with a lot of poverty, where there's an opportunity, there's a black market). The government then partly released the ban to allow the export of existing legitimate stockpiles. The nature of Sambar Stag antler (annual dropping in the spring) makes it different from elephant ivory and for this reason there will likely always be Sambar stag available to the gun and knife manufacturers, just not anywhere near the volume that was perviously available. It will never be as cheap as it was, but I don't think it will become totally unavailable, either. That's my guess.

I want it all... Damn, did I say that... Stag is just what I like the best... But I can live with out it... ....
