Yup, birch bark. I grew up in Northern Minnesota and the Scandanavian fishermen there used stacked birch bark on the handles of thier knives to prevent slipping. It also gives a nice warm feel to the handle.
ATS34 heat treated to Rc 58-60 by D'Holder.
Cryogenic quench.
Over all length 10 1/2 inches.
Blade: 1/8 x 5 1/4 inches.
Hollow ground with high polish finish.
Leather scabbard.
