I use white matchless compound and 1800 rpm baldor buffer and loose muslin buff on sambar stag and from time to time my stag loads with compound I guess my question is : what will remove the compound from the stag and what to do to keep it from loading up. I have been fighting this for more years that I want to think about and it has always whipped my butt. HELP, any comment will be appreciated.

Don't use the buffer. Works everytime. For the most part I'll just hand sand down to 2000 grit and wax or coat linseed oil.

Compound buildup is usually fixed by using more compound, at least for the last 20 odd years it has worked for me everytime.

I dig it out with a paper clip if it really "gets in there"....just something we have to live with.

Hand sand to 1500X or better, then hand buff with a strip
of cloth....denim works well....with a small amount (experiment)
of whatever compound you prefer. If you still get a build-up,
clean it out with an old toothbrush and mineral oil. Remove excess
oil with an old towel.

Spray WD 40 on the buff, and stag.
After buffing, use more WD 40 directly on the stag. Wipe the compound off with a shop rag.

I feel your pain as it has bugged me for years also. One thing I do is use buffing wheels that have no rouge on it and are new (hard and soft wheels).

I finally got up enough nerve to buff it. I use George's way(thanks George) loaded up the buff and buffed and what little the stag collected, I used a new small buff in my dremel tool to remove it. It is strange all stag reacts different. I had another one with stag and it never collected a spec of compound. I have also use pink compound to help remove the after effects. I guess, use whatever works at the time. Thanks for all the input. Mike
