Stag and damascus - show me yours and I'll show you mine.

You probably remember how big this piece of stag was in your hand Roger. I'll probably never see another giant premium piece like that.

I do remember it well indeed - that piece is exceptional in all respects, including that honkin' piece of premium stag. And just to give a sense of perspective to those who didn't have the opportunity to wield this beautiful beast: :eek::eek:

Great stuff posted gents! That Dean El Diablo is an absolute classic, and the engraved Ankrom fighter is truly impressive.

Couple of three of mine, all EDC type users. 6.5" to 7" OAL.

I enjoy stag handles as much as anyone but only if the stag is quality. Like ivory, it's something that you want to see first hand when buying. You also need to have an idea of what you're going to use it on as not all will work on any type of knife or blade. I have really limited the number of shows that I attend these days and don't get a chance to view stag choices like I used to. Hence I haven't used as much recently but here are a few of my past efforts:

And another folder...

I'm doing something wrong. Don, those slabs look like they organically grew upon that knife. I see absolutely no sign they have been touched by man. Do you cut them, shape them and then color them? (the reverse of what I do), I get them already colored, and fit them to the knife and no matter how well I do it, it does not have the depth of color yours do.

David, the stag on that one is amber stag, dyed by Culpepper. I never color stag after shaping, always before. Stag can be a very tricky handle material.

Here's a slipjoint I did some time ago. Good quality stag can really set the knife apart, where as poor quality stag can make the same knife mediocre.

Hello!

Just checking in after quite some time away from the forums again - wonderful thread idea and wonderful contributions! Stag is my favourite by far, allthough most of my stag pieces are either San-Mai or non-Damascus bladed.

Anyways, here is a recent one for me. Did not have the time for a formal shoot yet, just some messing around, trying to get the idea across:

Best regards,
