Stock removal from Pop's 1/16 inch 8670 high carbon steel
Heat treated to Rc 58-60 with attention to a fine grain structure
Flat grind with a slight convex finished with a cork belt
Stag and natural Micarta handle
Overall length: 13 1/2 inches

View attachment 2210550Because I have never used this steel I did some destructive testing. It broke in the vise at almost 90 degrees, had a powder like grain structure and after cutting half way through a 20 penny nail there was no damage to the edge.

Mr. Drew, you just beat the brakes off this one. So much to see and consider. Intricate and lovely. Also, I am really pleased to hear my favorite steel passed your testing with flying colors. So cool to see you flex a bit with this superlative ornate work. You rocked it.
