I saw this set on ebay and was wondering how many sets like this are out there? Ebay Item number: 270201819623 ..I collect LB1s an have never seen the one in this set..Is the LB1 stag available on its own? Any info would be helpful

Interesting filework, would have to be completed with knife apart.I have Staglon LB1 from Conference wall being a LB2. Interesting that a conventional set of the 4 knives boxed like that was never produced that I'm aware of. I have a number of Stag LB7's factory produced quite unlike that LB7. The Tang stamps would be all important, are they genuine Special Edition or re-worked originals with original stamps.Unusual that at least some of the blades are not open in the set for display purposes as Schrade loved to have them half or full open in all the sets I've got. Just my thoughts,I bet Lrv or Codger will have the flyer if they are actually factory produced which I find hard to believe they are. At $173 each one could get the originals mint, and have more than enough for a Minty 2OT when one next shows up!
Schrade...always more questions than answers.

I have several of the LB7's with Stag handles and the identical file work. I have always wondered about their origin and have never seen the set that's offered on eBay.

I really don't know and if I said that it was a set customized by Herman Williams I would be guessing.

I don't think they will sell at that BIN price, but you never know.

It will be interesting to see if it does sell, or what lower offer is accepted. The pictures are fairly weak, but they look like standard Schrade+ USA LB# stamps.

Took me a few minutes to determine meaning of the 1357 number on the box cover, but I've been a self appointed halfwit on a few occasions. This was one of them.

I have all of the LB series knives in Cocobolo, including the LB2 staglon. I'm not particularly partial to the pattern, so it seems way overpriced for my taste. If it was a stag set of 4 sizes of three bladed stockman, topped off with a stag 858OT, I'd get a little more fired up about it.

I would like the LB3 and LB5 though.

These knives were not customized by Herman Williams. They were probably done by some one in the Schrade Factory. Possibaly by Danny Jones. I know at one time he was experimenting with filework.

I used to be a collector. I one time I owned a large portion of the collection that was in the Imperial Schrade factory in Ellenville. Had I known what was to happen I would still own it. Never dreamed it would be broken up.

G'Day, Am I allowed to ask if you are the highly respected man himself,Herman Williams?
Did you previously own the 59' Old Timer 3OT??Do you have any history on the 3OT you may be able to provide?
Welcome and please stay awhile anyway, as we have far more questions than answers.
Hoo Roo from Downunder.

Larry,
I did own the 3OT that was in the Schrade Factory collection. To my knowledge Only a few of these knives was ever made. There was plenty of Jack Knives produced with the Washington bolsters and Clip master blade which was the 2OT. This one went all the way back to the Schrade Cut. Co. stamping. The 3OT with the Sheepfoot master blade was not in the production line. The story I was told is a few of the 3OT combinations was made up for samples. A very few got out. Probably less than half dozen. I know very little other than what I have here. I don't even know any dates to put with this knife. The information here came from an individual who worked in the old Schrade factory up on Canal Street. I bought that knife from a person who was not a collector, matter of fact, I bought two very rare knives from the same person. The other was a gold plated perpetual Calender Knife F170 pattern, pictured in the Schrade section Jim Sargent"s 1986 edition of Pocket Knife Identifications and Values. Thats about all I can tell you. Hope this tid bit of information is helpful.

Thanks mate, I have your 2OT as well as the 3OT so they keep each other company together with Craftsman 2OT. Breaking the collection up was a tragedy for all concerned.I guess it gave someone like me the opportunity to hold in perpetuity knives I would never have had an opportunity to see and feel. I believe none of us actually 'owns 'a knife...just caretakers..some better than others.
I think there was a rather youthful photo of a certain knife collector/designer/creator in that same edition of Sargents'? Are these knives the actuals featured in Sargents'?
I believe Rich and Ann L. live near you as well.....am I getting warm???Was the original 3OT owner from North Carolina? We love to ask questions on this forum..!
Many thanks for your response,I deem it an honour. Hoo Roo

Yes, the Schrade knives featured in Sargents book actually belonged to me at that time. I cannot actually remember where the man I bought those two knives from. If I remember right the 3OT was purchased at a Collectors Knife Show in Charlotte, N.C. The 2OT and the 3OT was not purchased from the same person. This was back in the early 80's I would guess. I bought so many knives over the years it's difficult to remember. Unfortunately, I did not keep any records of purchase.

Did you attend your first knife show in 1978 and were you subsequently interviewed by our "Uncle Henry" Baer?............no Larry I have no idea!!
You would have an amazing number of Schrade story's to tell and trust you may be able to share even a little with us??
May I ask if you have any insights into the Imperial Mexican venture?
Do you have a favourite Schrade style or particular knife?
You were in Schrade 'Uniform' when most of us were still in 'Liquidform!'
