You've posted some beautiful knives Champ. Some even unattainable, but I think this Ohta Gunstock is my favorite. Thanks for the photos.

I've got to agree. Really nice looking gunstock. Hiroaki does such a wonderful job hafting the amazing stag he uses.

So how does one get an OHTA gunstock in stag and what doe they run. I always stop and take notice of his.

I even like the small clip he does too not sure which numbers the gunstock and clip are.

This was a Christmas present from my mother in law last Christmas. It is breaking in nicely. This is the first CV that I have used as a EDC, and it does not show patina like 1095.
I don't use it for a lot of food. Maybe thats the difference. Anyway I really like the knife. Mini-Trapper with Wharncliff blade. It had "Rancher" etched on the blade when new. Thats
long gone.

Thanks, hamsco. :) I won that A Wright & Son lambsfoot senator pattern in a very generous GAW by R.c.s., one of our UK members.

That Case stag from your mother-in-law is a superlative gift! I think that Case does their stag differently than many knife makers, and IMHO does their stag in at least a couple of different ways, but I like it! (I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to stag, though; I find almost every stag knife to be fascinating.) I also think your conjecture about CV patina and food use is likely true. My CV knives have easily developed patina when I used them for food prep.
