Last Stagurday before Christmas!

The shortage of good Sambar Stag at a reasonable price, has made me look at local species.
Sweden has had an increase of the Red Deer population by 12% annually and are now counting around 25-30 000 individuals.
It is still hard but not impossible to get the chance on good antlers, as demands are higher than the supply.
This tuesday I lucked out on 6 Red Deer full antlers in small sizes.
One of them was badly cut directly into the Crown, but I saw the chance of a full size Bowie taper.
The cross section showed enough bone around the pith and the diameter and straight lines allows room for the long and massive tang on the Fällkniven Odin Bowie.
Not Sambar for sure, but shape, size, color and texture better than most Sambar tapers availible from online sources.
So, this buildprocess is what's going on at the moment, but in the pocket I carry the #53 Muskrat.
Regards
Mikael
