Thank you for kind words, helps soften the hole in my checkbook. I've been following/dreaming/watching prices rise for awhile and couldn't resist the micarta/stag combination. I will have to continue to lust after one of his "stripers"

I missed this thread for the past 2 weeks, and thus missed some breathtaking stag!
Here are a couple in particular that gave my heart a jolt.
Is that a Chinese Schrade stag Land Shark, with the lambsfoot blade?? I've had one of the Delrin versions for several years, but I've never seen it in stag, Mike!:cool::cool:

Alan, that stag Northwoods canoe is sensational!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

This one is a 1979 Bear Creek/Taylor Cutlery. The tang stamp just says "Kingsport, Tenn.", but I'm pretty sure it was made in Japan. I've never seen anyone else make this pattern, and given that Taylor resurrected it when he obtained the Schrade name, I'm wondering if it's an original pattern by Taylor.

Reminds me a little of JohnDF JohnDF ’s space shuttle knife:

(link goes to one post above the one I was trying to show, for some reason - just scroll down a little)

That's a fascinating piece of cutlery history Mike. I've not seen anything quite like it (though the Space Lamb is another interesting pattern). I have seen Lambsfoot knives, of more conventional form, which were made in Japan, around 1970, which I think may also have a Taylor connection.

I have a big old Case knife and I don't think its stag...but its close...What is it? Some sort of enhanced bone? Is this what they mean by "jigged."

That is jigged bone, appears to be what is called green bone. A flat ground blade instead of the more common saber ground and has what is called a high pull, where the nail nick is before the higher portion of the back of the blade instead of past it as on later knives. A beautiful knife and in excellent condition, although not in stag. Post your pictures in one of the Case threads, this knife deserves to be seen!
