Stag Saturday - Let's See Some Traditional Stag!

I've avoided stag for years because I didn't think I liked it.... What was I thinking?! I took a chance and these two just arrived. Now I finally see what the excitement is all about.

The 57 Wrangler is not a favorite, but it's an interesting pattern.

The color and quality of Stag on that 57 is really nice. Would like to see the Pile side though.
I don't know if the second knife is a 72 or an 83 , but the Stag is really gnarly on the Pile side . Like that a lot . I also like the 72 and 83 patterns a lot. Very comfortable. Actually 72 , 73 , 74 and 83 all are.
Sure glad that you have been enlightened with why we like Stag. Enjoy them my friend.

The second knife is a 72. I agree, those handle shapes are all very comfortable. As gnarly as the stag is on my 72, it actually feels rather nice in hand.

I feel the same way about the stag on the 57 also. They really do look and feel so much better in person.

Here's the pile side of the 57. Not quite as nice as the mark side, but not bad by any stretch. I'm also impressed by how thin the stag is on this one. It barely gets thicker than the boosters.

I think You scored well on both the 57 & the 72!

I have had an eye on that 72 for weeks and I'm surprised it lasted for so long.
You can thank the high costs of importing to Sweden from the USA, that I didn't get that one too!

It's nice to see Your pic's of it and I really enjoy the pic's from Everyone in this thread!

Stag is really a material of widespread individuality and it makes every staghandle unique in its own way!
There is always a piece of Stag for any taste.

Some of my favorites are Crown Stag, but it's very hard to find the best pieces.
I don't have the funds to order such a knife from one of the ABS Masters, so I had to find the Stag online and make it as a DIY project.
I put it on my Fällkniven NL1 Tor, wich I already had bought at a discount in a store sell-out.

The lenght of the handle closely follows what the 19th century cutlers, like Frederick Hassam of Boston did in the 1860'ies.
I don't have much use for this 10" fixed blade, but it's the centerpiece of my collection and it always put a broad smile on the people, who has held it in the hand.

A quick picture of some stag for Sunday. I know it should be on Saturday but I am just figuring this picture thing out a bit. Bear with me and I will get them inserted as a full size pic rather than thumbnails.was just a little excited to get a picture to finally show up.

They did an outstanding job on those Stag slabs Steve. I see NO transition between the Stag and the bolsters at all on either side. That normal loss of good stag is what makes me normally prefer bare headed patterns over double bolstered patterns.
Excellent choices of knives my friend . Thanks so much for the great pictures.

You guys have inspired me to go grab something else for my pockets today . Am in a hurry to go out with some friends and have to use some older pictures . Sorry

Have a great Sunday Folks.

Old Engineer.
Those are stunning.
Looks like 2 great choices to take along for a day with freinds.

Thank you Burnt Stag !! Much appreciated .
The 73 , the bottom one , is carried almost every day.

That Hubertus is a very unique knife . Not sure that I have ever seen one . How handy is it for you ????

Harry,
I am not sure I can call the Hubertus handy. Have not used it but probably should take it along on my next musky fishing trip.
It has the belt loop chain so that it doesn't get dropped in the water.
I suppose it would carry nicely in the back pocket. The lever and auto action would be handy with one hand as you hold the fish in a net.
