Looks great...about to start a sub hilt project myself. I hope mine turns out as nice.

Very handsome knife. I like the beautifully sculpted guards. Yes, an up swept blade would work well with the design however the straight blade adds a nice juxtaposition with the curved guards. The straight blade allows your eye to notice the organic and flowing guards which in turn strike a pleasing contrast with the straight blade. The only comment I would have had was that in the first photo there didn't seem to be a seamless flow across the top length of the handle. It seemed a bit lumpy. The last photo you posted doesn't show this to be such a problem. Nice proportions.
