Here is another of my stag utes. Been making a lot of these. This ones going to Cali. Just sent the last one to Australia.
Hand forged 1084 w/sambar stag.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks for looking.
Mace

I like that shape. The angle of the handle looks like anti-fatigue for a using knife. Cool

Mace, I really like the shape of that knife. When-ever I am teaching a new guy to forge that is what we make.. So I have several of them hanging around.

Mace,

I too like the looks and lines of your ute knife. I have one question though as to the seeming narrow transition area between the blade and tang. No worries there?

All the best, Phil

Dearest Mace,

Damn brother!! You got that down so well at this point that I figure it would be the perfect knife for my long overdo Birthday present.:):):)

Looks awesome - I was wondering if you might have problems with the scales adhering to the "as forged" tang. At a closer look, I see that the pins appear to have been peened. Do you still epoxy to keep moisture out?

Thanks for the nice comments guys.
To answer some questions:

I have no worries about the blade to handle area. I forge these from "Bruno 1084" and that area gets beefed up in the forging and can push 3/8ths thick.

The full tang is actually ground clean and flat after forging. The tricky part is trying to stay off the forged area(that shows). A little bit of the front of the scales sits on rough forged steel, the rest is on nice clean(36grt.) tang.
Pin holes are added and then some lightening holes till the knife feels right.
The handles and spacers are glued up using loctite speedbonder and activator, and then the pins are piend.

Thanks again.
Mace
