Stagehand needs knife

Best read that ad copy again....I think you may have missed that last word "each"!

Use the search function to garner further insight into boron carbide coated blades. Using "boron carbide" I came up with 19 pages of related links.

I think you'll find that several manufacturers offer boron carbide coated blades.....not "Nobody makes a knife like this!" as the ad reads.

I also think a website NOT connected to your union will offer better prices. A quick search found 3 sites beating the one whose ad you posted.....and you don't have to buy 25 knives to do it!

Just my $0.02 worth.

Good luck and let us all know what you end up buying and how it works out for you.

yea i know that you have to order 25(minimum) @ 50$ each i was just wondering about the whole HRC of 93, from my research of late I see that most blades have an HRC of like 58-63

Better read slower next time....I realize you're probably not an English major but, as it's written on my screen, I interpret the ad to state that a quantity of 25 knives must be ordered in order to get a price of $50 FOR EACH KNIFE! (Shouting not my intention, only emphasis.)

Addendum...

Sorry for the rant....most often the $ is put before the numeral(s).....I was reading it as fifty cents.....my bad!

I humbly apologize....

I need a non-reflective blade so if I have to use it backstage or in the wings that it won't flash light into the audience...

Check out the Benchmade BMHK14210SBT. It's a sub 3", black bladed Axis lock, with 154CM steel. See it here:

I'm assuming black blade so as to be non-reflective in a darkened theater. BTW phil000, we have a professional stagehand as a member here. Perhaps he will see this and chime in.

first off, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has replied to my question, I am so surprised at how welcoming you all have been to a newbie...

And, I'm unclear as to what exactly bead blast does, I have a feeling b/c of the context that it makes the blade a diffuse reflector? Our theater is pretty hardcore about everything being black and so forth...but i am open to other suggestions...
thanks again guys

not all of us...just me
we where long-sleeve black and there are actually some suits that they make that have hoods and black gloves and are creepy as hell...
thanks again

ps. How does an axis lock work?
and what's the difference between the 154CM steel and the 440C?

Another, economy, option (blade steel similar to 440C): http://www.gpknives.com/item/benchmade-monochrome.html

Personally, I would lean toward the plain edged blade because it is easier to sharpen. And, unless you have large hands, you will love the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian. This vendor gives you an option of plain vs serrated edge. http://www.gpknives.com/item/benchmade-mini-griptilian-mdp.html

Here is an alternative Mini-Grip: D2 tool steel blade coated black. D2 is takes more care than stainless steel as it can rust but some really enjoy it. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...x=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=benchmade&noImage=0

Best,

that Mini-grip looks pretty cool and fits the requirements, is the plain blade black or is the only one black blade the half-serrated?

What is one way to tell if a knife is one-handed open? Is the thumbstub a giveaway? b/c I have a sheffield box cutter that has a thumbstub and it would be easier to lift a car with my thumb than than open that box cutter...
