Staglon was Schrade's name for their Delrin handles which were jigged and dyed to look like stag. Camillus called theirs Indian Stag and there are others.
Please show your imitation stag Delrin hafted knives. I'll get us started.

UH154 😍. I had a 154OT back in '88 ... until my then fiancee's baby bro "borrowed" it without my knowledge, a couple weeks before my then fiancee dumped me for Sherry, 3 weeks before the "I do's". 🤯😳😭
Oh well. better before the "I do's" than after. 😁👍

Very nice collection you got there young Jeff.

The scales were undoubtedly molded from Delrin or a similar thermoplastic but can anyone explain how the dark color was applied? Thanks
Color agents in the mixture?
That is my guess tho I've never tried cutting to see how deep the coloration goes.

It might be the molds were "painted" just before the Delrin was injected or poured, like a bass boat hull is: Release agent -> paint -> Gel Coat -> Fiberglass mats or spray. (sometimes both.) Release agent -> clear gel coat -> paint -> white gelcoat -> Fiberglass is also a possibility.
or in the case of Staglon: release Agent -> Coloration -> Delrin.

Thanks for the suggestion. I jut did some online research about Delrin and it’s likely that a black and/or brown dye was used, which I now recall being told by a Camillus employee during a rare factory tour. I still wonder about the method used to apply the dye.
