Recently I picked up a scrimmed white micarta handles Gerber "Paul" knife that has some distinct yellow spots, probably from being in a leather sheath for 25 years, on the micarta scales.

If is wasn't scrimshawed I'd take a little sandpaper to it and polish the scales, but I like to keep the scrimshaw. Is there anyway to bleach micarta that anyone has ever heard about?

I tried it years ago, and the bleach turned the Micarta pink.
You might try soaking it in hydrogen peroxide.

Thanks, I'll try a tiny dab in the corner to see what happens. Was it white micarta that turned pink with the bleach?
