hey guys . just got a bear scrimshaw in original box. the knife is perfect except the back of the knife is stained red --I am assuming from sitting in the red form fitted insert. has anyone had any luck removing a satin like that???
i dont believe i have ever seen a stained one red before. i have seen them with a bown(tobacco maybe?) stain to them. i doubt it will come out. i cant think of any chemicals besides windex that might not damage it. somebody will be along before long to answer ya. good luck with that and hope u do find a solution.
I'm interested, but it is something I've never tried to deal with. I imagine it is the dye from the red flocking on the vac formed tray. UH_Fan posted about a polishing solution the factory used several years ago. Blue Magic, or something. Maybe Mr. Tom Giorgianni will see this and offer a suggestion. I'll look for UH_Fan's post.
hi codger that's exactly what I think it is as I think the knife wasn't used and absolutely perfect in every other way with box, papers etc.etc. actually i think the red flocking seems to be the only one that causes a stain. going to see if we can find blue magic or something thanks
