Staining Micarta Handles

I use a trick to fix wood work when it breaks. We call it hillbillie fiberglass. It's pretty simple to make. Mix epoxy with cotton balls and place over the wooded area that needs repair. Then sand or Dremel it to the shape it needs to be, drill holes for screws and put back on the cabinet door that broke or furniture leg and then stain it.

I imagine cotton canvas micarta scales will soak up stain in the same manner and it works pretty good. Give it a try and post pics when you are done.
