would the 300 series be good to make liner locks from i know it wont harden but i have alot of it

Annealed it wouldn't be very good but if cold rolled to harden it would be ok. This would be like brass .My old Schrade brass liner lock obviously is cold rolled.

how could i tell if it is cold rolled i got it from a cnc shop my ex step father works for along with alot of what he called brass alloy which is some tuff stuff but its not in good enough cuts to do anthing other than guards and pommels with

If you don't want to use Ti, just go with 15N20. It's about as stainless as a lot of stainless and comes in appropriate thicknesses, precision ground and spring tempered off the shelf. In this condition, you can work it as is and you don't have to HT.

If they have scrap 17-4 or 17-8 sheet that would be great (It's usually pretty expensive). You can work it soft and the HT is just 900F for an hour or so and let cool. No quench. Develops about 45 Rc with outstanding wear characteristics.

The cheapest high-performance non-Ti solution, is the 15N20, IMO.
