This kiridashi was made as my first test of stainless/high carbon welding and I'm pleased to say that I can now add this to my arsenal of techniques. The stainless is 416 and the working layer is 1080. It is 4.5" long and 1.5" wide.. 3/16" thick. It is a chisel grind, completely flat on the bottom. It is photographed with a secondary beveled edge on the top... but if you prefer a completely flat chisel grind, I can do that before shipping. Hardness is 59-60 Rockwell. Comes with small pocket sheath.

Thank you... It would be easy to convert the pocket sheath to something that could be worn about the neck. And I could do that... OR.. I've been thinking of getting some kydex for these. If you are interested in that... let me know and I can work something out.

:-) I am indeed one who has constant battles between natural aesthetics and practicality. I was hoping that rawhide would function like 'nature's kydex'. But there is the moisture issue. But you have to admit... stainless and kydex have a certain affinity. ;-)
