At 7.5% chromium, 3V isn't really in the 'stainless' category. However, like the other CPM steels, it appears to benefit from the tighter grain structure.
I think Ed Schott has been using this steel for quite some time.
The last I heard, just this past week, mid-October is still the target for the stainless 3V. If I hear anything further I'll let everyone know.
As Kaos says, however, while it is not "stainless" CPM-3V, as is, is pretty stain resistant and I have seen no tendancy to rust when properly finished.
I must have missed the boat here. Did they up the Chromium in the new 3V? Any other details would be appreciated. I couldn't find any on their website.
Thanks.
Not sure Kaos, last I heard they were still playing with the formula. It will be a high chrome version of 3V, called S30V, the "S" designating that it is stainless. CPM-3V will continue to be available in its present formulation.
Hey guys, I'm trying to keep up and I don't have a program
. Weren't we recently being told that the new stainless version of 3V was going to be referred to S125V, or is this something different altogether? Thanks.
