Have any of you guys seen or used these?

www.uscanteen.com

I am not a big fan of the plastic or aluminum canteens, but the price on these seems a bit high, even at "50% off". I am not even sure if they fit in the mil surp canteen holder or not.

Any thoughts?

Pretty stuff! I wonder how it would hold up outdoors. A bit spendy for my budget, but I like the looks.

“A bottle of water at the movies costs $3. In the vending machine at high school a bottle costs $1. Before I made the switch I was spending $3 a day on water — $1,095 a year!”

Wow you have to pay to drink from a fountain now!! thats a rip. For $1,095/yr I would invest $90.

I did buy two stainless containers to take hiking I think they were $10 each on sale, I really like them, compared to plastic and al the water really tastes clean. We went on a bike ride Sunday and I commented that when I was a kid everyone threw their beer cans out the window, now everyone throws their water bottles out the window. Maybe if this catches on there will less litter. Even hiking you see water bottles along the trail.

I like the looks of them I do not think $30 a peace is all that bad I paid $27 for my nalgene ones.

Thanks for the link though.

I bought a couple guyot's right before the big PBA scare, and I like them, especially the bug mouth which makes for easier cleaning. But other than the maxpedition bottle carriers, there is not much out there for carrying them.

If I knew this would fit in a military canteen cup, and canteen pouch I think I would buy one. It could be a nice anchor for a PSK.

Wow. seems just like another trendy company trying to marked outdoor styled products that will never be used anywhere other than the mall.... Similar to when dillards carried The North Face products. Just kinda makes me laugh. I am sold on the Guyot bottles at this point...with the only drawback that they dent super easy.

The website says they are modeled after the orginal canteen, so it may fit. I saw the double wall was the same price as the single wall which is a pretty good value.

Well, I'd like to say they they should because the milspec canteen is 32 oz and this is 24, but they might have farked with the design and made it too tall or too wide despite the decrease in volume.

There was a nice thread in G&G about these last week: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=658451

I think the canteens are cool, but slightly pricey. The carriers are crazy-priced, IMO. And aside from the Como model, they all look like little purses.

Though I'll most likely not buy a US Canteen item, you'll see in the G&G thread, I, too, and guilty of indulging in over-priced bottle stuff...

I'd pay that much for a 'milspec sized' single-wall steel canteen. I like that I can carry the military style canteens on my belt much more comfortably than the nalgene shaped ones. If you keep it in a pack or baldric, no worries of course.

I may email them to see if it's milspec size or not.

Yeah, that's the biggest plus for me with the GI style canteens, they really fit on the hip better than the cylindrical guyot.

Wow, I don't know who would actually carry one of those around town. They look so stupid. The canteen itself looks good for the woods, but those fashion carriers are dumb.

Here is a review from someone over at Zombie Squad. It's quite good.

ZS Stainless Canteen Review

Needless to say if you try and ask something using the word "milspec" they are clueless.

Link to the below post about "milspec".

"My bet is that no one at US Canteen has any idea what military surplus is or that it even exists.

Q: "Will it fit in my milsurp canteen holder?"
A: "We haven't been contacted by a representative from Milsurp about an attache' yet, so you should probably call Millsurp and ask them the dimensions of their canteen handbag"." :barf:

I emailed them to ask if it was the dimensions of a military-type canteen, and they sent this in return:

"Our version is a bit trimmed down and the cup is slightly too big for it. Also, we don't recommend boiling water in it because the twist top is made from polypropolene and would melt. Sorry!"

Is the twist top not completely removable?

It looks like the cap is permanently chained to the canteen. I'm sure a pliers or a side cutter could remedy that, though.

Holy cow! That "Contact Milsurp..." bit cracked me up!

Nope, I don't see it... The woman sporting the canteen makes it worth looking at, but it doesn't pass the functional test in my mind.. I'd rather have 32 oz. wide-mouth bottles or a 100oz. hydration pack.
