Stainless choices?

Just a question for a good stainless. Ive been using S35VN and had some great luck with it so far. AKS has not been stocking it because they said they've had some issues with crucible for this steel and wont be stocking it until its fixed. Chuck recommended me to Elmax but my heat treat abilities are: Paragon kiln that maxes out at 2,000, and Dry Ice.. Is dry ice cold enough for Elmax or is there another good steel choice that I cant think of? looking for something with good wear resistance and corrosion resistance that I can HT. Toughness isn't a big deal since this will be for hunting blades not choppers.

I've heard a lot of people very happy with AEB-L.

Cheaper than S35vn.

When my S35vn runs out I'm going to give it a try.
 
According to the B-U rep at Blade a few years back, dry ice is not quite cold enough for Elmax.
 
You should be OK heat treating 440C, AEB-L, CTS-XHP, and N690 with your set up. You might not get max hardness with Elmax.
 
Okay thanks folks! I have AEBL jut was looking for something a bit better! Or should I say more of an edge holding ability.. maybe I’ll try some N690!
