Up to this point I'd always used brass pins, but I bought some stainless corby rivets, and used them on a knife. I like how they work and fit and all that, but now that I've contoured the grip, it's like no matter how I back the paper it won't get the pins smooth with the wood. (Especially at the top near the index finger portion, where it narrowed the most) I don't know if it's because they're stainless, and harder than what I'm used to or what. I finally got them somewhat alright (For a shop knife with an ugly grind) but I need to do better on the next one :o

..It drives me crazy everytime I pick the stupid thing up and feel a sliiight lump on each side of the top pin :grumpy: I'm supposed to be finishing

Try using a file on them to flush them up with your handle before you put your final belt to them. at your final grit use real light passes.....or hand sand (safer)

Alright, I'll try the file for the next one.

Other than them wearing away at 1/1000th the speed of the wood, I liked using the corbys. Didn't even need clamping
