Does anyone have a source for Aeb-l or 13c26, as well as 304 stainless. Thin stock is needed to get the layer count high in the first stack. I looked at the traditional places like Aldo, Admiral, Alpha ect but the cost would be about 200 dollars per billet. Just checking to see if anyone else knows of a cheaper source. 200 per billet makes for expensive mistakes and learning curve.

Stainless Damascus is going to be expensive and has a slow learning curve....from what the folks who make it tell me.

Yeah, unless you've got someone showing you how, expect to trash a number of billets. It's much less forgiving to variables and error than carbon steel.

There are various industrial steel suppliers that can supply you, but you've got to be eligible for wholesale purchase and willing to drop a couple thousand bucks or more to get decent prices. So if you're just looking to play with/learn how to make this stuff you may be better off buying from the usual suspects, until you can justify volume purchasing of materials.
