Stainless Discoloration Question

I recently bought a Wenger Standard Issue. On the knife blade, there is discoloration, just above and for the entire length of the edge. The knife was brand new, so I know it is not a result of. Is it a result of something in the grinding or polishing process? Is it something related to the heat treat process? I figured I would ask in the knife makers section since you guys understand how knives are made and could probably better explain my prediciment.
