Stainless Police

Blades:

From the timeline on the Spyderco website, it looks like the Police is theoldest currently-produced Spyderco knife. The next oldest is the Harpy.

Neat.

After I move the pocket-clip of MY SS Police model, I plan on putting some Agrip on the non-clip scale, and that will solve the "slippery" problem very nicely. (I did the same on my Massad Ayoob folder, and the Agrip makes a world of difference!).
Dann, thanks for the tip on Agrip. I assume that you buy it in sheets, then trim it to fit your knife? Brownell's has something called "Form AGrip Sheet", which sounds like what I need.

Yes folks, it's true...

I have a small Wegner. :o :o

:D

- Just don't flick your Wegner too much; you'll go blind! :o

- I think Freud said that people buy a big Police to make up for their small Wegners!

Okay, okay. I have to grow up I admit...

My SS Fully Serrated, VG-10 Police finally arrived today.

It's been a while since I've seen the Police up close and personal but wow is this a nice looking knife. I suppose G-10 is more practical but sometimes you just want a pretty face as the brushed stainless steel. :)

So far, so good. No blade scraping against the scales, or any other disappointments. The only thing is that the action is still a bit stiff (perhaps firm is a better word) and needs some break in. Therefore, one handed opening is a bit strenuous. I did give it a few drops of oil.

It's a comfortable knife to hold. I have medium sized hands but I could see where the Military may be more comfortable for those with bigger hands.

All in all, sw-e-et. I can see why this is Spyderco's trademark knife...but a little intimidating.

I can't get over it's size. It probably looks larger than it is but I put it next to my BM 710 (another 4" blade knife). The Police actually towers over the 710 since it has a bit more length if you count the exposed part of the tang + the longer handle.

For some reason it seems to exude the same kind of danger and "bad boy" image as a pearl-handled straight edge razor! Definitely not a knife to take out to slice an apple at a church social! Or else, you'll get this look -->
