Stainless spring question

Here's a thought:

I could make a backlock folder out of a stainless steel and have the blade and the spring professionaly hardened.
It will go in a batch, all coming back app. HRC 59

That will be to hard for a spring.
But if I'd give it an extra tempering in an oven at a higher heat, the hardness would go down to spring level.

Is that a good idea or am I wrong, somewere?

Spring temper is usually around 46-48 RHc. Depending on the steel you would have to bring it up to generally over 600 degrees (deep blue on carbon steels). CPM-154 and ATS-34 are tempered at 980-1020 degrees for a 59-60 RHc.

Right now my ats34 springs have to be drawn at around 1135 to give me an Rc of 48-49

About the same as Ken with CPM 154cm, and regular ol 154cm but I use 1100 even. When you do it your self you will find your "sweet Spot" for the spring.
Alot of differant variables are in it as well. The thickness, how far back the pivot pin is, and the tempered hardness. All of these will give you differant results in differant combinations.
