So I missed out on that DLT Trading Buck 110 offering with stainless steel bolsters and drop point S35VN. DLT said they don't plan on getting more in. Are the stainless steel bolsters going to be stronger than aluminum, brass and nickel? I have an aluminum bolster Buck 110 and figure the thickness of the aluminum would be a lot stronger than the brass. Am I wrong? Collecting these 110's is addictive!

yeah^

ya sure op it wasnt nickel silver? dlt once labeled a 501 wrongly as stainless in their description. member here who loves stainless bought and found out it wasn't.

I would have added one of i knew about it. Id like a stainless bolsters and frame 110 too.

Both Nickel Silver (60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc ?) and Brass (67% copper and 33% zinc ?) have more than 50% copper in them. I'm just guessing that hardness and weight is very similar. Aluminum is definitely softer, SS is (much) harder. Also have the DLT 110 S30V in Nickel Silver (and Rosewood) and the KC one with G10. Would be great to have SS bolsters !

No, it was definitely brushed stainless steel. If you zoomed in you could the grain and tell just by the color that it wasn't nickel. It had green micarta scales and an S35VN drop point blade. If you go to CensorTube, er, I mean YouTube, and type in Buck 110 S35VN you will see the video from DLT Trading showing it and another video from Preparedmind101 (the second video from July 12, 2018) where he showcases it.

I don't have a link, but it was brushed stainless steel bolsters with green micarta scales and a drop point S35VN blade. You could tell it was stainless steel just by zooming in and seeing the grain lines and the color of the steel. I’ve seen that 110 before and on the 501 with green micarta and S35vn blade. They were actually brushed nickel silver and dlt had to correct the description. There was talk about it about a year or two ago. Bucks bolster frames are cintered and I don’t think stainless was ever used. It was a info mistake.

A mystery solved.
I think the Duke's frame remained longer as stainless. As the BCCI offered a Heritage series in 2003. You could purchase 1 or all 5 knives of the series.
They had green canvas micarta handles & s30v blades. I purchased the Duke from this set. A magnet will not adhere to the frame but it will to the blade and lock bar.

I'm not sure what that solves. There are quite a few varieties of stainless, many of which have no magnetic attraction. My understanding is that the 500 Duke still has stainless bolsters.
