stainless steel for heavy duty edc fixed blade?

oh okay so would you say that its about the same as 440c but just takes a finer edge? Have you worked with other stainless steels for comparison by any chance?

I use aeb-l and s35vn for all the stainless knives I make. Both perform exceptionally well. I use S35vn when wear resistance is desired, and aeb-l when a fine edge is preferred, such as in a chef's knife. Aeb-l performs like a good carbon steel, but is stainless.

Oh okay i dont think aeb-l is my first choice for this one as I prefer to simply maintain my edc. But it seems like it would be a nice option for a a large camp knife from the sounds of it. I appreciate the information very much and hope to try that steel with a good ht someday soon!

What i've seen popping up a lot lately is AEB-L which is (i guess) similar to 154 but a little more pleasant to make a knife out of and to sharpen. Elmax is pretty tough stuff. I have a S30v fixed blade idk if you can take it to 60rc but its decently tough and easy to sharpen in my experience.
