Stainless Steel Insulated Mugs?

Nissan holds the heat longer. The only Stanley I have is the WIDE MOUTH since the Nissan's are all small neck models and not that good for a chunky soup style container. For pure liquids, Nissan all the way in my house. :)

Well, K Williams, as I said in my prior post, I doubt that you'll find a better mug for the money than the Starbucks with the carabiner style handle. It clips to all sorts of things, including the mini-carabiners that I have on my belt and on the shoulder straps of my pack, thus freeing my hands. It will keep a pint of coffee or tea hot for a good 4-6 hours and will hold ice for overnight. It has a plug in the top that you open with a pull ring and close with a push of your thumb. It cannot be much easier to use.

I like the SS mugs too. I've got 5 different models. But sometimes its hard to find one w/a bottom shaped the right size for the cup holder on some cars. If you have a Books a Million store nearby, they might have some left overs from Christmas marked down to $10. They fit tight holders. They are quality, but will not keep your coffee warm for two hours. Nice feature is the plug-in to the cigarette lighter. It won't make hot a warm beverage, but will prolong the heat at the current temp. Just make sure you plug it in the cup BEFORE plugging it into the lighter.
I've got some thermoses too, but they tend to be a pain to unscrew the cap and pour a cup, screw back on, etc. w/out spilling while driving. They are my favorite kind, but tend to roll around and not be nearly as convenient as a large cup.

Ps: Here's a solution. Buy one of both. When your cup runs dry, fill it up at your next stop.

Well, first of all, the correct spelling is "litre", not "liter"! When you Yanks finally join every other nation and go metric, THEN you'll get it right, I guess! :D

Second, I WAS going to endorse the old construction site standard, the Stanley, but I see it's now available in PINK! http://www.stanley-pmi.com/Stan-Drink.aspx
What the hell's going on these days? :jerkit: Yup, that Stanley's real macho, now. :thumbdn:

I have the caribiner mug from starbucks and it is great but I seem to use a 16 oz Starbucks thermos that I lost the top to. It works great, keeps coffee hot for a couple of hours and iced drinks cold for longer than that.

I had a pink cup when I worked construction; nobody, I mean nobody wanted to steal it.

Ok..how do you guys drink 5hr old coffee (refering to Vampy) ::gag
Also, I never found a cup that sealed up correctly

When it's in a thermos coffee doesn't oxidize and get bitter. That's why I make my coffee directly into a thermos bottle with a cone filter, even when I'm at home. I use a small cup and keep refilling it so it's always hot.

I have several mugs in my collection that don't leak, though they don't keep coffee hot for hours. I think the only one that's currently on the market is the one I found most recently, at Target. Look for the words "Guaranteed Leakproof" -- if it doesn't say that, it isn't. Target has a variety of mugs that have a knob in the middle of the top to open and close it.

The flavouring in coffee consists of fatty acids . Alkalines such as hard water will tend to neutralize the fatty acids and remove flavour .So coffee does better with soft water , tea better with hard water. If you put 1 drop of sodium hydroxide in the water the flavour will be gone !! The fatty acids can also oxidize [become rancid] and produce terrible off flavours !! Always thoroughly clean the coffee pot before making another batch !!!
