stainless steel knife for swamps and forest work

I am looking for a good stainless steel knife...

...I have been looking into Fallkniven S1 but worry I have heard that the edge chips...

Fallkniven makes great knives, internet banter about chipping issues is overblown.

Many hardcore woodsman favor Fallkniven for their reliable knives.

Also, as others have stated, Bark River offers some fine knives that would serve you well.

Though known for their Tool Steel, many of their popular models are available in Stainless.

Big Mike

Another affordable alternative would be the Marttiini's from Finland (they come in several sizes - below is the Big Game Condor w/ a 5" blade):

It's 440 stainless, but I have had excellent corrosion resistance and very good edge retention (much better than expected, for sure). It's a rat-tail tang, so it's not super heavy duty. However, I have done light to medium batoning and very light chopping without issue. Also, the sheath is a synthetic material and has a plastic insert to secure the blade, so it does well when wet and the blade is protected. Worth a look for $30.

Yes I think I'm going to get the next 4.1 model that comes out and going with s1 not sure which sheath I have a guy who makes them I will ask him about it
