stainless steel or nickel silver pins?

In a couple of weeks I am going to pin a nickel silver guard. I have the stainless steel rod but I have read that it does not work well with the nickel silver. Is it best that I get some nickel silver rod for the job?

Stainless will show. Use nickel silver, countersink the rivet holes, and peen it.

If possible get the N/S pins from the same supplier as you got the bar for the bolster. There are different grades and it might show a little. SS mixed with N/S will stick out like a sore thumb, especially when the N/S starts to patina a little.
