Stainless Steel Quench Question

I intended on firing the forge up tomorrow for another project anyways, so I'll do that in the meantime.

Okay, if you change your mind let me know. I won't use this steel. Took it in trade doing a local maker a favor.

This steel might work harden from the annealed state but your RHc will be, at best, in the high 30s to low 40s. Better to heat it to cause precipitation and boost that up into the 50s. Then have the work hardening increase that a bit. As A C Richards noted, you could end up little to show for your efforts if the steel isn't H1 or if you mess up the hardening temperatures. You will not be able to anneal H1 with your forge. You could end up with a fancy pattern.
