Mark Warren of Medicine Bow is having a stalking and tracking class on April 12th and 13th at a 35 acre wilderness school in the Chattahoochee National Forest in the mountains of north Georgia near Dahlonega. I've talked to him quite a few times and he's a really cool guy and I'm sure the class will be a lot of fun. My friend and I will definitely be there. The class costs $95. Right now Mark isn't sure if the class is going to happen because not that many people have signed up for it. It seems that most of the people in the area are more interested in the "non-hunting" type stuff. So, I decided to post about it here and try to get some more people to sign up. If you're interested in it, check out his website here and post in this thread. This thing should be really fun so sign up. Pretty fair price to if you ask me.

Perhaps it will help Mark get people to sign up if they realize that there are also non-hunting uses for stalking and tracking skills. If one is an avid birder, or fungus forager, or similar, a stalking and tracking skills might help. Such skills also simply help one to have a more aware outdoors experience. They're essential for nature photography. Those skills are fun. Etc.

Stalking and tracking are not just for hunters.

I agree and so does he. Unfortunately, most of the anti-fur and vegan crowd don't see it that way. Then again, when has PETA ever been openminded? ;) As far as others who know what the deal is, times are just slow these days and they aren't coming out in force yet. I think he might also suffer from the word of mouth only marketing. I never knew about his classes until someone told me about it and I looked for classes like his a lot.

Just wanted to give this a bump. C'mon mates. This class sounds fun and it won't happen unless more people sign up. Do it for me. I'll bring an extra sammich for ya. You won't even have to pack your own lunch. :)

Hey Dylside, I'd try to make it down, but that weekend is also PWYP. My guess is a lot of the 'w&ss' types are going to be there, especially the locals. Hit me up next time you go.

You could always tech tracking skills to those who want to dispose of the armed rednecks that are growing weed out behind their summer cabin. PETA doesn't really seem to care all that much about humans, so I'm sure that you would be ok:D

I would go if I wasn't already going to be up in the Smokies. I will start going to some of the other classes though. I am especially interested in any edible plant classes.
