Standoffs

Ernie seems to like them. Or else he would not have bothered. I like them too. I think a thicker standoff would look better, though.

Just got a used 2013 Gentleman Jim that has standoffs. I like the standoffs, but I don't have a problem with the backspacers either.

I like standoffs but not sure on a Emerson. The obvious reason to mess with a perfect design would be to save money on manufacturing since its a one size fits all deal. Mr Emerson is a smart guy so if he see's a tactical advantage, I will accept his design change. Blade may get damaged more in the pocket, especially by coins but who knows... I would love to know the weight difference between the standoffs and spacers. Emerson's light weight is a redeeming quality I love about them.

With standoff's there's more threads engaged, but twice as many fasteners to potentially fail. Kinda' 6 in one, half dozen in another...

I always thought the backspacers looked cheap on the production models. I like the standoffs much more. I got a gentlemen jim that has standoffs. Looks like the jungle commander still has a backspacer?

A cosmetic thing, doesn't bother me at all. Though I haven't seen many models with standoffs. Someone else made a good point about loose change getting in between the liners. I keep change in a separate pocket, but its something to note.

I do get change occasionally in my CRK's, so it stands to reason that's a potential for the standoff EKI's (don't have any yet).
