I purchased this hollow ground rasp knife made by Chuck Stapel that is missing the original stag antler handle.

I am thinking it needs a better finger guard than the one ground into the rasp. Does anyone have the time to silver solder a steel guard and make a hardwood hidden tang handle for this blade? I placed the blade near and over my Silvana Bowie as it is close to what I'm looking for in the design. Is a $300 budget for time and materials reasonable?
