I know we have a few SW fans here, just a reminder that the old trilogy hits DVD tomorrow so go get it :D

A Local Best Buy in White Marsh Maryland is having a midnight sale, so if any other Maryland guys want to meet me up there, I will be there around 10pm tonite... shoot me an email and I'll give you my cell number...

Received it today...(damn DHL didn't even try to deliver last friday)
The ultimate quest of dvd maniacs comes to an end with this boxset and it was worth the wait. The image looks simply amazing!!!! They have done a great work cleaning the master.
For the audio I'm a bit disappointed (I've only watched the first so far), the sounds are a bit muffled sometimes... Maybe I was expecting too much like Episode 1 and 2, which are demo mix...

No comment on the changes made by Lucas, I'm not a hardcore fan so I don't care :)

Enjoy!

I got mine delivered today by UPS from Buy.Com. I pre-ordered it several months agos and the price was like $40.00 - no shipping fees or state taxes. I still have to fire mine up. Looking forward to a great experience!! I'm hoping that the THX Sound lives up to its' claims.

And as an example of corporate cohesiveness, Both the A&E network and VHI ran big Star Wars specials over the weekend, complete with cast interviews, behind the scenes footage, and all that. (probably taken from the DVDs...)

I'm willing to do my part for the franchise (I came out of the first one desperately wanting my 72 SuperBeetle to be an X-Wing!) by checking out Star Wars Battlefront. It's a new video game to be released shortly, sort of Star Wars meets Battlefield 1942. Initial reviews and impressions are good, can't wait to see what the actual game looks like.

Saw gameplay of Battlefront last nite while picking up the Trilogy... Looks great, I'm picking it up on Thursday.

It's nice to see that there are still enthusiastic Star Wars fans out there. I'm a big fan of the Saga, including the prequels, and the online fanbase tends to be all negative.

I'm still debating whether or not to pick this DVD set up though. I've waited this long for them. Waiting another year or so for the massive DVD set with all six films is nothing.

I'll probably break down and buy this new set though. I'm so weak.

Waiting another couple of years for the massive DVD set with all six films has been my aim and why I've not got I or II.

I'll probably break down and buy this new set though. I'm so weak.

I first saw Episodes IV, V & VI on LaserDisc after never really watching them on TV and such as a child. They blew me away such that I almost forked out for them on LD and an LD player. But the Special Editions were released and I got to see them on the big screen which was awesome.

I won't buy this box set just yet. One of my mates is bringing his projector and screen over this weekend along with his box set and we'll see how my sound system handles them. I can't wait!!

Al :D

Have any of you guys seen the last part of the Return of the Jedi???

In the last part of the movie, when everyone is celebrating at the fall of the Empire, have any of you noticed that young Anakin has taken the place of the older Anakin when standing next to Yoda and Obi-Wan? Kind of freaked me out because I didn't remember that in the VHS version of the film.

it's part of the new changes made by Lucas for the DVD...
The VHS featured the special edition of the trilogy re-issued in 1997 if i remember correctly, and since then he made new alterations...
check them here

I scanned through the DVDs to see if there were any changes made. The only change I saw in A New Hope (aside from the 97 special edition changes) was that the duel scene between Vader and Kenobi is now much faster and made to appear a bit more aggressive. Their lightsabres colors appear clearer as well.

In the Empire Strikes Back, the dialog between Vader and the Emperor has been altered and actor Ian McDiarmid (who played the Emperor in Return of The Jedi and plays Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious in the prequels) now appears in holographic form. Also, Boba Fett's voice has been replaced with that of Temuera Morrison who played Jango Fett in Episode 2.

As has already been stated, the younger Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christiansen) appears along side Alec Guiness and Yoda in spirit form at the end of Return of the Jedi.

I have some old Laserdiscs of the REAL movies, I'm tired of Lucas changing everything with each release. A friend bought the new set, I plan on watching it with him this weekend, just to hear the remastered sound and such. I wish he'd stop editing his films, or at least offer some way to view the original theatrical releases. :(
The other change in ANW is that Han & Greedo both shoot at the same time now. Originally Han just shot him, then Greedo shot & missed first, next time Greedo will just slip on a banana peel and laugh or something.

Just got the dvd package @ Kmart for $39.99. It`s about time Lucas came out with the dvd version. I have been a huge fan of the trilogy since I was a toddler. As for the prequels...well I`m not so enthusiastic. Episode II was ok but episode I was just :barf: . I`m hoping that episode III will be the pinnacle of the prequel trilogy, but, unfortunately, I think the filmmaking talent of Mr. Lucas is certainly NOT what it used to be.

At least Lucas hasn't inserted more Gungans (oops, he did in ROTJ) :grumpy: or replaced all their blasters with walkie talkies (yet).

:grumpy: :barf: :grumpy: :barf:

Got my set today from Wal-Mart for $36.99 the box is gold, I guess this is because it is the full screen size version not the widescreen.

How about in the end of Star wars before Luke blows up the Death Star, VAder never says "The force is strong in this one"

Now we know Vader is Leas dad, makes the interrogation scenes a ltttle freaky.

I love how when interviewed he calims her made them as they should be. Well he did that with I and II and see how great they were recieved.

I watched it this past weekend (rented the DVD) and Vader said it in mine.

I gotta say, I completely forgot what a whiney little (you know what) Luke was in that movie.

The sound was great, but I'm also tired of seeing Lucas changing his crap around.
