Just bought one at the New York Renaissance Fair- seems pretty nice....think it's 5160??? steel- any info is appreciated on this company or maker...
Thanks!
He makes, hands down, the most economical, indestructible blades for stage work that I've ever used.
Bought one of his long swords about eight years ago, and saw five productions before I left the stage. Still do some live steel choreography with friends from time to time...so "Gale" gets drug out again!
The only mods I've made were repolishing the blade, after some idiot printed it and left it for me (I love ex-roommates...) and I rehandled it, since the wire-wrap was chafing my big mitts. I put a leather grip on in, and it's been sterling for about six years, now!
It seems like a decent sword, albeit a bit heavy....even if it voids the warranty, would it take at least a decent edge in that type of steel??....I'm not sharpening it to play lumberjack or anything like that; I just feel that a sword needs an edge like a cat needs it's claws, just doesn't seem natural to not have it.
It should take a decent edge. Get out your diamond hones and get to work Mr! Just be aware that you cannot send it back if there is ever a problem with it. I agree though, if you are going to have a swrod the sword should have an edge. If not, get a waster.
