Starlingear/Strider Sets at Blade '09 Question

I don't know what the original price was, but there is a dealer that has a set for $1500.00. That could be the original price.

Anyone know the original retail on the 2 folder sets? Supposedly 25 sets were made.

Hi

There was no set retail/dealer pricing.

The 25 sets were sold for around $1000/set directly from the Strider people at the show and the secondary market priced the knives accordingly- this included dealers who also paid the full retail price for the knives.

Almost all the sets were sold to individual collectors and not to dealers.

Hope this helps...

Thanks. That helps a lot. I've seen secondary prices up to 3K+ and I was just wondering if they were gouging. Guess I know now. I can understand a very healthy markup, but triple?? Thanks again

Hi

Glad to help.

Unfortunately, I did not get any of these at the show, but in terms of pricing, just like all other desirable knives, watches, cars, boats etc-
these are worth whatever the buyer will pay if they want it- as you know, nobody forces a collector to buy anything.

Have a nice weekend,

Absolutely. If I had 3K to burn I'd buy a set. I'd be stupid but happy. Now I'm just smart but bummed.:o

A clarification.....

These were not sold as "2 knife sets"- the "set" I was referring to was the one engraved custom knife, a Starlingear Bead and the Greg Everett embossed leather sheath.

There have been several varieties of these "sets" over the last year or so.
I think 5 or 6 different sets.

If somebody is offering to sell 2 of these sets as a package, then that is another story.
