I only have one question, Sal- is the Starmate clip going to be positioned for tip up or tip down carry? Please say tip up...
Thanks

I'm with 'ya Christian, tip-up! On the first Terzuola collaboration, the C15, it was drilled and tapped for both ends. That would be nice. In fact Sal, it would be nice if all of the Spydercos (at least those with the right type of clip) were drilled and tapped at both ends of the knife for the user's choice. Even though it voids warranty, I end up drilling and tapping knives myself because the factory didn't do it for both ends. I'm a definite fan for tip-up carry, but that is TOTALLY a personal preference.

I agree, I'm now a tip-up guy.

I just bought one of Bob's handmade knives and he sets his clips as tip-up, so I'm hoping the Spydie one will, too.

Sorry guys, current production is a custom 3 screw tip down clip like the Military. I will mention your request to production and see how this clip might fair tip up. we Would have to make some adjustments to the tooling, so it would not be on the first run, perhaps in the future?

Thanks Sal. I'm sure that there are two fairly strong schools of thought on which way the clip should be. Since Bob sets his customs up as tip-up, I thought maybe the colobo knife would too.

Either way, I can't wait for that knife to hit the streets!

Doug - Bob's custom folders use a disc opener. The carry position with the disc opener favors a tip up position. The tip down opening in really "Spyderco hole" friendly. The hole will work in either tip up or tip down position. But only the hole offers the two opening methods which is the advantage of the tip down position. Tip down is often used on stud and disc opening linerlocks because a less effective detent might have the knife accidentally open in the pocket.

I've met relatively few tip-up liner locks with ball bearing detents that I'd trust in my pocket. Most of them are Spydercos. The Kershaw Wild Wild Turkeys that I've met are also trustworthy, in my opinion, but the Hawk with its larger blade is doubtful. I think tip up carry in a liner lock goes best with a small gentleperson's knife.
