  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Starmate or Chinook?

Starmate!!!!!!!

Why? Because it kicks butt. The Chinook is a great knife as well, but it's not as carry friendly. It's thicker, and a bit wider.

I'm going to solve the problem of the extra weight by having Mike Sastre from River City Sheaths make me a kydex belt sheath for my Chinook. Mike says it'll do vertical & horizontal, so I'll have my choice. I got one of the Gunting sheaths from SFO and I like the way it carries, easier than pocket carry, IMO.
I'll report back on the Chinook sheath after I get it and wear it a bit.

I had the Starmate and did not like the balance on one-hand open or the general feel in my hand. I bought a Military and liked it so much better that I traded my Starmate. I prefer the flat grind anyway. If you like big, strong lightweight knife, I recommend the Military.

My next large size Spydie will be the Chinook. It reminds me of a giant-size Worker (one of my other favorite Spydies.) Also, the big heft reminds me of the Buck Ranger, which was my first knife.

BTW, this is totally off subject, but I just pulled my new Chive out of the box. Greatest knife toy since the Cricket! This will be a great one for presents to friends.
