Large or small, or medium size.
This will be my first knife, and am a little nervous about beginning. I have a great pattern in mind for a large fighter. Just wondering the wisdom of going large on the first knife. So should I start small to medium, and wait to go larger?

I would recommend starting smaller and learn a few techniques. I started larger than I should have and I ended up finishing other knives before I finished the first. You'll pick up some tricks and skills along the way that you really appreciate having when you start on your larger knife. That being said... You gotta start some where. You might be able to jump into the deep end and do just fine... or not ;)

Definitely start out small, especially if you are using hand tools. If your design for the large fighter is as good as you say, you'll want to make sure you have the skill to execute it properly. The recommended starting knife is a 3" drop point with no bells or whistles. Just simple and small. When you've finished that, you will have a much better idea of what your second knife should look like.

Critique please:
My 2 rough sketches cut out. What is the good, bad, ugly. Huh, that would make a good movie title :)
Thanks
