Started another Katana with photos

If I send myself down to you can you send me back home not weighing as much?

That would work too Bawanna! Id have to strip some of that diamond plate from your chair and some steel from your holsters tho! I dont think you would be the same without it tho. I just couldnt do that!
Dang Doc! I got that flint yesterday and im pondering on how to reduce it? Still thankin bout it? Its an odd shaped amoeba but quality is superb! I might get several pieces from it if im careful. Thanks you sir for a fine piece. Ill try to post some results from it. That Katana is still leaving me speechless. I just dont know what to say about them skills of yurs?

The wakizashi blade is now formed and will be worked with a sen/rasped/ filed/ground down to almost final shape. When it's cleaned up, a few photos will be forth coming. Blade length from tip to muni-machi is right at 20.5 inches. Blade width there is about 1.25 inches. The sori (or curve of the blade) built in is about 3/8th inch. After yaki-iri (heat treat/creating the hamon), it should increase to around a half to 11/16ths of an inch. Hopefully, it doesn't crack and cause about 25+ hours of poundy-poundy to go down the drain.

Is this a rework of the previous wakizashi or a new creation in addition to the marvelous katana in the works? You might want to step it up some, spring is coming and pretty soon you'll be having to cut the grass and chop down bushes and stuff. Really cuts into the shop time doing stuff we really want to be doing although I really don't mind cutting grass so much.
I'll send a schedule down to your wife so she has a guide line for your daily activities.

I've been waiting for the finished photos to give you my over the top high praise but I'm bursting now and so gotta' say -

WOW - I am super impressed. Your talent and patience is coming together to create a beautiful piece.

(Not quite OTTHP- but more coming :))

Looking forward to the next set of photos. And yeah - nice shirt.

Cheers, Ray

As you can see Kamidog, the blade is not yet really straight and even. Taking the high spots off with a sen. I prefer the Portuguese made Sandvik rasps for all the rough shaping. Will remove 2 inches from the tang if I'm able to get through all the snow that fell today.

Owww!!.... just lookin at all that snow is killin my back and shoulders! Rehash always better than no hash! Uh..wait a minute? I take that back. No I dont mean ill take it in the back...oh nevermind.
Looks plenty straight to my crooked eyes Doc! Lookin great! Now put them dolls up please.

Have the blade all draw filed now, Danny. Took a mite longer than anticipated. Now to let the corners of my fingers heal up from all the pressure splits in the skin. Still pulverizing the clay, sand, and charcoal. Hope to get one of the two clay types mixed this weekend. Knee deep snow fell day before yesterday and today saw another 8 inches. Sending some to you in Texas as you need the moisture down there.

Looking amazing from here Bookie. Looks like we might be done with snow in these parts, least ways I hope so.
Supposed to be sunny and warm this weekend, might even get to mow the lawn.

Ready for applying the two clays ---as soon as I get the ingredients pulverized and mixed together.

I see ya finally reached puberty and can grow a mustache. Looks good on ya.

Beautiful work. The shape and form are excellent. Also, not a bad mustache. I kind of miss mine. I got puke in it, so I shaved it. Then I learned my girlfriend prefers me without it, so I've not grown it back.

You know you can wash them mustaches, I wash mine near every saturday night on bath night.

My wife says I don't have an upper lip without a mustache, so I've had mine since I was 3.

I got a lot of puke in it. A lot. And I decided that the thing that was going to get rid of possible reinfection and possible problems was getting rid of it quickly. And like I said, my girlfriend prefers me without it.

I shaved my head once thinking the tinfoil wasn't making good enough contact and therefore not providing enough protection from aliens and democrat satellite rays trying to rob me of my common sense.

I don't think it helped but we discovered the Kojak look wasn't me.

Kojak, huh? More like Pa Kettle to me! I'm gonna be talkin' to the Missus about you bein' so cheeky, you know.
