Started out to be a Puukko

I started this blade with the intention of making it into a Puukko but listened to feed back from some of my customers. While they loved the blade and handle work said they were afraid of the knife because it had no guard so I put one on this knife. Since I had deviated from the Puukko theme also changed the handle from the strait barrel shape.

The steel in this one is 1/8 inch thick CPM S30V with a fuller on both sides and hardened to about 60Rc. The blades 600 grit hand sanded finish is 5.75 inches long, 1 inch wide and the knife has and overall length of 11 inches. This is a hidden though tang design with the tang extending all the way though the handle and attaching to the brass pommel at the end. I keep the tang nice and wide for strength as it passes though the brass guard and only after a couple of inches does it taper down to the pommel. To stress risers I avoid any sharp corners in the transition as well.

The handle is elk antler with red dyed and stabilized maple and black linen Micarta spacers and comes with pictured brown heavy 8/9 ounce leather sheath.
