You win!!! I've bought it yesterday night. Thanks for the advice: it was THE advice I needed.
(And a Douk-Douk, too. Because everybody needs a Douk-Douk. Period.)

My collecting goal at the moment is getting one good knife from all the major brands, eg. Benchmade, Spyderco, Sog, Kershaw, etc.

My next one will be this absolutely perfect piece of traditional European splendor...

I would look at some already mentioned, based on my experience thus far: Benchmade 710, ZT 0200 (Beast of blade).

I would, if you like the Buck 110 you already have, go to Buck's website and 'Build your own 110'. The Buck Custom Shop can build you a very nice 110 for <$100 with a choice of handle material, nickel silver bolsters, S30V blade, fg or not, and exposed rivets or not. They'll even engrave it! My examples are keepers all!

Another suggestion... an Arno Bernard! Order direct from their site - they'll build it and ship it from South Africa stateside, if you live in the USA - then to you in short order. My first one, below, is a 'Wild Dog' model - Bohler N690 steel - full length but finely tapered tang - spalted/stabilized maple handle - and cape buffalo sheath. I ordered another 'Wild Dog' - in giraffe bone. It took 10 days - and was just under $200 shipped. The quality is unreal. Sadly, my view of the new one was fleeting... Mrs. Stainz wrapped it and put it under the tree!

Check out the Arno Bernard site for more choices. Of course, my recent (7/11) CRK Small Plain Sebenza, above, is a classic - even in new S35VN. Another South African born knifemaker, here in the US now, and what knives he makes. Super quality, great materials, classic design... all expensive attributes.

In the bargain buy department, a Becker BK2 is a deal - congratulations!

Merry Christmas!

Thanks a lot, that's a beautiful idea, but I've tried and they seem to not accept buyers from outside the USA. I've sent an enquiry email to them on that point. Let's see what happens. I'd love so much to have my 110...

Alex17,

You must try the Emerson Commander too. It's got great ergonomics, slices agressively and ultra light for a knife it's size. Oh, beware wave opening can be very addictive.

Merry Christmas!

Doesn't seem you have anything really traditional on there except maybe the Buck. You should definitely pick up a slipjoint knife. Something like the one on the left in my avatar. I've heard good things about Queen and Great Eastern cutlery.

Hey cool! I hope you get as much use and enjoyment from your BK2 as I have from mine. :D
