Starting My Winter Woodcutting

Sun, Her father was a papered Rottweiler and mother a Cocker Spaniel. Her dad could jump a fence... Susie has a very good nose and will smell out downed birds. She watches for hand signals and is eager to work for you. Thanks, DM

John, you and my wife are in the same cheering section. It's a yearly deal and I don't mind. It gives me some good exercise and you gents seem to enjoy the photos of Fall activities. I can't wait for you to post one of yours of a harvested deer. Thanks, DM

Speaking of deer, were on a job site in grassy cove and there's a darn good sized buck that's curious about us. The best of what I can tell 11 points. Big ole spread.

Speaking of deer....this is the best pic I can come up with right now. Cool and raining out; great night for some deer chili.

is that chainsaw the 455 Rancher? if so good choice of a chainsaw, I have the same one.

Cutting, it is the 455 Rancher. I've had it 5 years and it has tackled some tough cutting jobs for me. Help keep the family warm. On a normal winter I cut 3-3 1/2 cords. Thanks, DM

David,

From the looks of the ring shake in post #6, you must get a fair amount of wind,

David,

From the looks of the ring shake in post #6, you must get a fair amount of wind,

I found out when I backpacked through NM that they don't call it wind….they call it a "NM breeze".

I woke up in my tent some mornings covered with high desert sand and I remember one day I came across an old adobe and was never so glad to get out of a breeze in my life. :)

Viking, Yes, we do get wind. The trees are stressed by drought. Then the bark beetle moves in and the winds finish them off.
Stumps, in our winds that adobe building was a good find to stumble on. Thanks, DM
